About HD Cables
LP Security Technology Co.,Ltd
HD CCTV system is not yet fully developed and the following cables are useful in the field.
Coaxial Cable
Coaxial cable with BNC connectors, 75 ohm impedance, the same type used in analog video setups can be used for HD cameras though higher quality cables may be necessary for the higher bitrates. The HD bitrates have a shorter maximum run length, typically 100 meters (330 feet) with RG6 (if it has attenuation of 6dB/ 100ft at 1GHz bitrates). Belden's RG11 cable (#7731A) has only 4.3dB/ 100ft at 1 GHz and it can run up to 150 meters (500ft) for a 1.3 Megapixel HD camera. The fact is, most HD monitors do not have yet the BNC input for HD video and only recording boards and other related devices have HD BNC inputs in the field.
Optical Fiber Cable
HD-SDI can be transmitted up to 40 Km (25 Miles) over Optical Fiber Cable. You'll need proper converters at both ends.
HDMI Cable
HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) is a compact audio/video interface for transmitting uncompressed digital data. HDMI connects digital audio/video sources to compatible monitors and digital televisions. The distance is very limited, usually no more than 20ft for HD-SDI.
